Hair Straightener Facts

Hair straighteners work by firstly breaking down bonds in the hair's structure. It is these bonds that determine whether your hair is curly, frizzy or wavy and when you apply straighteners to your hair these bonds are broken down and this allows you to re-style the hair to whatever style you want. The bonds can reform and revert to their original structure if they are exposed to moisture so it is worthwhile not trying to get wet!

Some cheaper hair straighteners do not have ceramic heating plates although these types of styler can cause damage to hair.

Hair straightener products are to be used on dry hair not wet hair. If you have wet hair then blow dry it and use normal ceramic straighteners otherwise you will need to buy special wet to dry straightening irons because the bonds in the structure of the hair will reform otherwise meaning you may get split ends and frizzy looking hair.
