Is Lana Del Rey the Next “It Girl?”

Indie singer Lana Del Rey definitely has her critics. While late night TV audiences may question her talent and music critics give mixed reviews on her work, the fashion world just loves her.

This is blatantly obvious as the young singer graces the cover of Vogue UK magazine’s March issue. This cover follows the wildly popular Interview magazine cover that helped land Del Rey a modelling contract.

On the Vogue cover, Del Ray looks absolutely gorgeous in a pretty pastel Louis Vuitton dress with her auburn tresses cascading down her back and shoulders. (We wonder if her stylist used a ghd styler to achieve those perfect waves.)

The dreamy, vacant look is reminiscent of Del Rey’s music – just think of “Video Games,” her most recent hit. Bee-stung lips, the singer’s trademark, are also a focal point of the cover.

Overall, the cover is spectacular, though some fashion critics do have something to say about Del Rey’s fingernails. Her manicure is usually part of her overall look, but this one is just plain odd. Each of her fingernails is filed into a long, sharp point with the tips painted red with the bases all natural. The manicure is almost evil looking, which is an interesting juxtaposition of her music, look and persona.
